How to Print and Cut Treasure Hunt Cards at Home

A few checks before pressing Print can prevent clipped borders, cards in the wrong order or a pile of unnecessary pages. CluePup creates printable PDF kits; your printer and PDF viewer handle the final printing settings.

Choose the paper size in the editor

In Design, select A4 or US Letter to match the paper you will use. A4 and US Letter have different proportions, so choose the correct one before downloading. Review the invitation details, clue text and certificate names, then save the latest version.

Download the unlocked PDF

Draft previews have watermarks. After your purchase is confirmed, use the PDF download for the clean printable kit. An individually purchased hunt can be edited and downloaded again unless its payment is refunded. If you use Pro, PDF access depends on your paid entitlement.

Check your print preview

Open the PDF in a viewer and select the matching paper size. Start with one test sheet. Use Actual size when the preview fits your printer’s printable area; if a border is clipped, try Fit or Fit to printable area. Printer interfaces differ, so check the preview rather than assuming one setting works for every printer.

Keep clue sheets single-sided

Clue cards need to be cut apart and hidden separately. Print those sheets single-sided so two different clues do not end up on opposite sides of the same piece of paper. CluePup adventure sheets place up to six clue cards on a page; a longer hunt uses additional sheets.

Cut, sort and check the order

Cut along the card borders with scissors or another suitable cutting tool used by an adult. Put the cards in numerical order. Give card 1 to the children and use the parent guide to hide the remaining cards. Keep invitation pages and certificates separate from the trail.

Print only the copies you need

Your PDF viewer may let you choose individual page numbers. For example, you can print the parent guide once and a certificate for each explorer. This selection happens in the viewer’s print dialog; check the page preview carefully before printing. Keep hints with the grown-up and store a copy of the latest PDF for your event.
